Today is the last day to voice your opposition to cookie-cutter California standards

Proponents of adopting one-size-fits-all California vehicle emission standards on Colorado have been flooding the Air Quality Control Commission with hundreds of comments.

We need to fight back.

It’s important that we provide some balance and demonstrate that cookie-cutter California standards don’t fit Colorado’s unique driving conditions. It’s vital that we say a surcharge of $2,000 or more on new vehicles is going to hurt Colorado consumers.

Today is the last day to make our voices heard. By noon today, 326 of us have sent messages.

Take action today to prevent a big state bailout for Elon Musk

You’ve heard about Tesla’s struggles, which come despite massive state and federal subsidies for the company. Those carrots haven’t been enough to bail out the company, so now Tesla backers are pushing Colorado’s Air Quality Control Commission to pick up a stick to punish consumers who need to purchase larger, gas-powered vehicles like pickups or SUVs.

The result could be a surcharge of $2,000 or more on new vehicles sold in Colorado.

As outrageous at this sounds, it could be our reality if we don’t fight it now.  If you think this is a bad idea, you have until tomorrow to make your voice heard.

Speak out now to stop $2,000+ surcharge on Colorado new vehicles

Imagine if Colorado added a new surcharge of $2,000 or more in each new vehicle sold in the state.

We’d be outraged by this punitive measure, which would hurt our consumers and threaten our bottom lines.
Well, this could be the practical effect of adopting California’s vehicle emissions standards, a step being considered right now by the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission at the direction of outgoing Gov. John Hickenlooper.

If you’ve been on the fence, register now for the Annual Convention in Kaua’I and join in the fun!

Here are two good reasons to reserve your spot…

1. Go for the education.

Last year, one of the dealers who went said the education was the best had ever seen. Another dealer said he implemented a speaker recommended as soon as he got back to the mainland. From leadership to industry direction, revenue generators to bigger profits, you’ll find it all at the Annual Convention.

Cal-LEV comments due October 30 — or Colorado could become Californicated

California emissions proponents have spoken out.

Have you?

We’ll say this much about proponents of California vehicle emissions standards: They know how to make their voices heard.

Hundreds and hundreds of them have already contacted our state’s Air Quality Control Commission to support the adoption of the California vehicle standards in Colorado. In fact, they want the commission to go even further, adding even more unrealistic electric-vehicle mandates.

So the question is: Are we going to let them dominate the debate? Or, are we going to speak out just as loudly against the California standards, which will raise the cost of new vehicles in Colorado by thousands of dollars?

Go for the fun!

Last year, dealers spent a lot of time talking with one another. In fact, it’s one of the things they liked most about the CADA Annual Convention: Mingling with other dealers. Even free time was spent hanging out. Mike Dunlap, Schomp Automotive’s director of Business Development, said, “The underlying theme for me was that everyone was relaxed, and another surprise: WE hung out with each other. We didn’t go off on our own, but paired up with other attendees and had a night out eating, talking and listening to music.”
