Act now to oppose $2,110 California tax on Colorado new vehicle sales

A $2,110 “California tax” on Colorado new car sales for model years 2021-2025. That’s the bottom-line impact of the proposed California Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) mandate on our state, according to a new analysis prepared for the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association.

For larger pickups, minivans and SUVs, this “California tax” on new vehicles could be even higher – potentially much higher. It would limit choice for Colorado consumers, preventing them from buying the safe vehicles they need for work and play in Colorado’s uniquely challenging driving environment.

On Thursday, November 15, the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission will have a public comment portion where people in Denver are allowed to speak on this proposed California mandate. If you or a member of your team can speak, please contact CADA Legislative and Communications Manager Michelle O’Connor ASAP.  Michelle will provide guidance on how to participate and offer suggestions for what you can tell the commission. This portion of the meeting starts around 10:00 a.m. so those wishing to speak should arrive a little earlier.

Also, please visit http://www.dontcalifornicate.co/ to sign our online petition opposing the California mandate. Encourage your friends, coworkers and suppliers to add their names to the petition today!
