How to interview and hire at a career fair

You know that recruiting at a career fair is different from your usual hiring process — whether someone walks in off the street or submits their school and work experience through the careers pages.

And whether you host a booth at the Automotive Career Fair at the Denver Auto Show, or a table at one of your local high school’s career fairs, it’s a good idea to know how to successfully attract and keep top-tier candidates.

To help ensure your success, CADA has partnered with hiring and employee experience expert Nora A Burns to help you build a successful career fair strategy, through a special seminar, Career Fair Recruiting: How to interview and hire at a career fair.

During this seminar, you’ll walk away with 12 tips to maximize your experience at a career fair, including selecting your career fair team, marketing collateral, the on-site application process and measuring results, to name a few. And there’ll be homework (see ‘selecting your career fair team’ and ‘marketing collateral’ for starters).

If you want to continue selling the vehicles your customers want to buy, make a stand at the Cal-LEV/ZEV hearing tomorrow morning. Details below…

February 12, 2019

The legislative hearing for SB-053, which would overturn and prevent Cal-LEV and -ZEV, was postponed from last week to 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, February 13. If you want to block Colorado’s adoption of California — and take action to help ensure your customers can continue buying the vehicles THEY want to buy — please join us for a breakfast briefing at 7:30 a.m. at Sassafras American Eatery, 320 E. Colfax Ave.

From there, we'll go to the Legislative Services Building, Room B at 9:30 (directly across the street from the Colorado State Capitol – 14th and Sherman Street) to show our strong opposition to the executive orders by our former and current governors' strong-arming us — and our customers — into telling us what we can and cannot sell, regardless of what our customers actually want.

To drive this point home to our legislators about how important this issue is to you, your dealership and your customers, we want 60 to 80 people from dealerships who oppose Colorado’s adoption of California emission standards.

Last Tuesday, CADA sued the State of Colorado’s Air Quality Control Commission (AQCC), challenging its decision to rubber stamp California’s vehicle emission regulations and impose them on Colorado’s citizens as unlawful.

Rather than trust us as citizens to choose the vehicles we need and want to safely drive in Colorado’s unique conditions, AQCC concluded that California’s regulators — not Colorado's— should decide which vehicles must be bought and sold here. It seems that the Commission decided this course of action before the rulemaking process even began. It rapidly pushed through the complex rule that will cost Colorado, you and your customers billions of dollars, without taking the time needed to fully evaluate its impact.
