We're in the one-week countdown to the election. If you're still on the fence about state legislator races, check out the CADA 2020 Dealer Voter Guide for how incumbents voted on issues important to dealers — and the candidates who are running against them.

Colorado new car franchise dealers contribute more than 22 percent to the state's total sales tax revenue. If your legislators who are running for re-election did not vote with you on issues you feel are important, it's likely they won't if they're re-elected.

Have you voted yet?

If not, the CADA 2020 Dealer Voter Guide is your one-stop reference for issues that were important to Colorado's auto dealers, how incumbents voted on those issues and the candidates who are running against those legislators.

Colorado new car franchise dealers contribute more than 22 percent to the state's total sales tax revenue. If your legislators who are running for re-election did not vote with you on issues that affect not just your dealership, but the people who buy new vehicles from you, consider voting for the candidates who are running against the incumbents. After all, if they haven't voted with you so far, it's likely they will not in the future.

Legislative races make a difference for all Coloradans in the automotive industry. The Colorado General Assembly is where many of the laws and regulations originate that determine how new car dealers must operate.

State legislative elections may affect you even more than the national races

Legislative races make a difference for all Coloradans in the automotive industry. The Colorado General Assembly is where many of the laws and regulations originate that determine how new car dealers must operate.

When you consider that the industry contributes more than 22 percent to the state's total sales tax revenue, you can see just how important your local elections are to your dealership, livelihood and quality of life.

CADA published its 2020 Dealer Voter Guide in the September Bulletin. If you missed it, take a few minutes now to review the guide, which includes:

  • The Bulletin article that introduced the Dealer Voter Guide, explaining what will be helpful for dealers as we move into the 2021 Colorado Legislative Session.
  • CADA's position on issues that were important to dealers during the 2020 and 2019 Colorado Legislative Sessions.
  • Incumbents' voting records on those issues.
  • Candidates running against those legislators.

Generally speaking, if a legislator who's running for re-election didn't vote with CADA in 2020 or 2019, it's safe to say that he or she will not vote with you and your dealerships' contributions to your community (your legislators' district) going forward. It's up to you to decide how important that is to you.
