NEW this year! Island Tours!
During free time away from the education, camaraderie and convention-related activities, get the flavor of the island through several tours. For more information and/or to register for a tour, visit Fun on Kaua'i. CADA island tours include:
Star Na Pali Dinner Sunset Sail
The Star Na Pali Dinner Sunset Sail is the premier 'dinner with a view' experience. Sunsets at sea, viewed from Southern Star or the Northern Star, are spectacular! Passengers will enjoy a panoramic view of the entire coastline from Haena to Milolii, with the 'forbidden' island if Ni'hau in the distance. Each day is unique, as the light reacts with clouds and landscapes. Rainbows frequently add color to the distant mountains.
The sail starts with a short briefing and introduction, as we depart from Port Allen and head West, then North and upwind on the Na Pali, depending on conditions.
Meanwhile, the team of onboard chefs will get busy preparing the fresh meal. Unlike other charter boats, the catamarans are equipped with a full galley (kitchen) and bar. This means that the meal can be prepared fresh onboard, instead of the standard practice of precooking food.
On most days, the Hawaiian trade winds are blowing from the East, which makes for a perfect downwind sail, once we reach our turnaround point. the crew's objective on this sail is to position the boat for a calm, downwind sail during dinner service. Once we reach our turnaround, the crew will power down and hoist the massive mainsail and job. Now you're set up for some sailing, relaxing and yummy food.
ATV Waterfall Adventure
Navigate an automatic, easy-to-use All Terain Vehicle to the heart of Kauai's lush, tropical Paradise. Located on the island's scenic South Shore, the excursion takes you through 22,000 acres of private dirt roads and trails. This is the state's longest off-road adventure tour. Enjoy breathtaking mountain and coastal views, unspoiled tropical landscapes on private land and a half-mile tunnel bore, entirely through stone.
Listen to the knowledgeable guides tell of Kauai's fascinating cultural history and the unique ecosystem that thrives on the island's verdant surface. You will visit movie sites like Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Thornbirds and many more. You also will visit military bunkers and historical Hawaiian sites.
This four-hour tour takes you to a secluded, cascading waterfall, one of which is where you'll picnic on local Kauai snacks and beverages. You'll be able to swim in a cool, reflective mountain pool at the base of the waterfall, before heading back to civilization. Be sure to bring your swimsuit, towel, sunblock and water-friendly footwear.
Scenic Valley Beach Horseback Ride
Our most popular and shortest ride, offered twice daily. This ride takes you through the ancient Maha'ulepu area popular now to beachcombers, wind surfers and local fishermen.
Experience a variety of scenery and terrain; from pasture ranch land and farm crops to coastal and mountain vistas.
Cross over a sand bar and stream, travel past beaches and bays, see native foliage and birds and pas under the tall, shady ironwood trees as you appreciate the cool tradewind breezes.
Kauai Eco Helicopter Adventure
Join us on a first-class Eco Adventure over the Garden Isle of Kauai. You'll fly the incredible new American Europter ECO-Star. This state-of-the-art marvel gives you 23 percent more interior room, individual business-class style seats, two-way communication with your pilot and expansive glass for outstanding sweeping views of Kauai's incomparable natural beauty.
Your journey begins with a flight to spectacular Hanapepe Valley, and continues to Mana Waiapuna, commonly referred to as 'Jurassic Park Falls.' Next, it's up the Olokele Canyon before moving on to the Waimea Canyon. Then, the sculptural masterpiece of the Na Pali Coast gives way to the Bali Hai Cliffs and the pristine blue waters of Hanalei Bay and the Princeville Resort area.
Finally, weather permitting, the crowning glory of the Garden Isle: Mt. Waialeale — the wettest spot on earth, with an average annual rainfall of 450-500 inches! Flying into the center of the crater, with its 5,000-foot walls towering above and it's 3,000-foot waterfalls surrounding you is a truly awe-inspiring finish to your ECO adventure of the Garden Isle of Kauai.
And for your spouse/guest (while you're in the general session)
Waimea Canyon Excursion
Experience the grand vistas of the place that Mark Twain once called 'The Grand Canyon of the Pacific,' Waimea Canyon. Travel in air-conditioned comfort through lush fields and miles of sugar-white sandy beaches.
Discover the serene folds of Hanapepe Valley, Port Allen and the mysterious remains of a Russian Fort along the ride. Travel through Koloa, where Hawaii's first sugar plantation once thrived, and up to historic Waimea Town, the site of Captain Cook's first landing.
At the end, you'll be rewarded wit a stunning view of Waimea Canyon and its impressive environment.
Wildlife Refuge Kayak & Hidden Valley Falls Hike
Explore the best parts of Kauai, both in and out of the water. Paddle two miles down the Huleia Stream and through the Huleia National Wildlife Refuge, a natural habitat for rare and endangered Hawaiian water birds.
Cruise past Alekoko, or Menehune Fishpond, and around the base of the Haupu Mountain Range, a majestic 2,000-foot shield volcano.
Known for its lush greenery, Huleia has been the site of filming for a wide range of major motion pictures, including Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark and Lost World, the sequel to Jurassic Park. In fact, you'll get a chance to swing on the very same rope swing used by 'Indie' himself to escape from spear-throwing natives.
After tying up the kayaks, guests will enter Hidden Valley, a secluded and private watershed exclusively leased to Outfitters Kauai. Guests will be led through a pristine rain-forested valley, containing many different interesting communities of plants, birds and aquatic life — both native and introduced. We will stop along the way at waterfalls and swimming holes with rope swings. Rather than paddling back two miles into headwinds, guests will come aboard our twin-hulled, motorized Hawaiian canoe for the return trip to our dock.
This adventure puts emphasis on fun and interpretation of natural history, culture, folklore and legends.
Aloha Surf Lessons
No visit to Kauai would be complete without some FUN IN THE SURF! One of Kauai's most-famous professional surfers will have you 'shooting the curl' in no time.
Upon arrival at the Poipu Beach area, our expert instructors will instruct you on land for 15 minutes before you paddle out to ride your first wave. Instructors will be in the water with you for one hour. You then have an additional hour to relax on the beach or continue to practice surfing on your own.
You couldn't pick a better time, place and company to experience the thrill and excitement of SURFING.
Experience the breathtaking beauty of Koloa's natural setting and the preservation of the rich history of the land. Koloa Zipline's last line (#8) goes over water and guests may reach speeds of over 50 mph. Koloa Zipline also offers a sunset zipline tour every day. Start just before sunset and enjoy the beautiful colors of the Kauai sunset sky. During your tour, you will end under the Kauai night sky. The course then lights up, as you will have a light on your helmet.
